JUNE 12TH AS DEMOCRACY DAY IS NEEDLESS; ITS A SQUARE PEG IN A ROUND HOLE : OLOGBENLA ADEDOYIN

Image
It is needless... In my own opinion, the declaration of June 12 as the new democracy day in Nigeria is needless. It only opens the door for further future changing of the date, in the sense that any other elected president can decide to wake up one day and pick another date that marks another touching event in history as pertaining to elections to commemorate democracy.  We can't keep tampering with history to score some political points. AM I AWARE THAT JUNE 12 1993 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION WAS ADJUDGED TO BE THE NIGERIA'S FREEST AND FAIREST PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION BY NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL OBSERVERS AND IT WAS SUPPOSED TO USHER IN CHIEF  MOSHOOD KASHIMAWO OLAWALE ABIOLA WHO HAD AN OVERWHELMING VICTORY? Yes. VERY WELL. I'm aware and I agree that Late Chief M.K.O ABIOLA was no doubt a symbol of democracy considering how he was able to secure a support that cut across geopolitical zones and religious divisions and later emerge as the winner of the presidential elec...

Image
The Erstwhile chairman Ife south local government in the state of osun Hon Remi Odewale has urge Christian to pray for peace and show love to the less privileges during this festive period. In his goodwill message he said... I take this opportunity to bring you Christmas greetings and best wishes for this Yuletide season. This time of year is important to all Christians around the world as we commemorate and rejoice in the birth of the Christ-child, Jesus, more than 2000 years ago. Today, we recall and recognize the values that he taught us; values of truth and respect, love and compassion, brotherly kindness and sharing, as we endeavor, together, to achieve peace on earth and good will to all men. It is quite evident that Christmas as we knew it, has changed significantly over the years. The sense of community that was evident as people shared whatever they had around this time of year, is not as it used to be. The fact that we are now faced with unprecedented economic challe...

Ooni and Kingship Tradition; Protocols..... Prince Adedoyin Ologbenla Speaks

Image
I think for the purpose of native education, there is need to quickly intimate ourselves on few laws or ways of doing things, that must be observed around where an Ooni is or a Yoruba Oba. Whoever the Ooni is, his palace emese's (rightmen) who are custodians and apostles of Ife Culture do not joke with these ancestral rules and they care less about who you are or where you are from. If could be annoying but this is tradition, so whoever must come near must to act like a roman to enjoy Romanian ties. In view of that these, the following are few things you may be learning for the first time. 1. You don't bring an Umbrella into an Ooni's Palace. Only his umbrella must be seen. I learned this about 15yrs ago, when some whites came visiting. From the gate, they kept their umbrellas.  I have to asked why. I will leave other whys aside. Lol 2. You don't stand greeting an Ooni, you can try it else where but not Ife for any reason, you can stool down like an Alfa does to...

Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi unveils Tope Adesegun As His New Wife and Olori of Ife

Image
According to thefulcrum.com ; Only a rapscallion or brute from the bay of crooks could fault a King for exhibiting his divine right to love. Thus with no attempt at mischief, it couldn’t be wrong or distasteful for the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, to fall head over heels in love again. And if the subject of his affection is none other than a drop-dead beauty, Tope Adesegun, so be it. If it is indeed true that Oba Ogunwusi is smitten over Tope, then the kingdom of Ile Ife and high society are undeniably in for a long, interesting haul of romance and intrigues characteristic of love in royal and celebrity circles. You couldn’t fault Oba Ogunwusi for falling in love, and you couldn’t hate him for seeking her hand in marriage, even if you tried. The pressure to get the Ooni to marry another wife is therefore predicated on the need to avoid any case of accidental discharge that might rubbish the traditional institution he represents. Soon after his second m...

Image
Covering more than 70 percent of our planet, ocean remains remains one of the most expensive mysterious and diverse places on earth. Unfortunately, it is being threatened by pollution from people on land and from natural causes. Marine life is dying, and as aresult the whole oceanic ecosystem is threatened simply by various sources of pollution,. If we are to preserve ocean and its natural beauty, drastic measures have to be taken to combat this pollution and keep what we hold most dear. The majority of the garbage that enters the ocean each year is plastic. That’s because unlike other trash, the single use grocery bags, water bottles, drinking straws and yoghurt containers, among eight million metric tons of the plastic items were toss (instead of recycle), wont biodegrade. Instead, they can persist in the environment for a millennium, polluting our beaches, entangling marine life, and getting ingested by fish and seabirds. In line with the Sustainable Development Goals of en...
