 National Association of Nigerian Comrades (NANC)
on Saturday paid a tour visit to Ile Ife.
The group visited Ooni's Palace, Araba Agbaye Aworeni
chamber, Oduduwa statue, Idi Aje shrine and others in it bid to
know more about the culture and traditions of the ancient city.
While receiving the group at Ifa temple, the Araba Agbaye,
Babalawo Aworeni Adisa, told the comrades that Ile-Ife was
blessed with natural and minerals resources and endowed
with tourist attractions due to his culture and traditions.
“Ile-Ife has a peculiar advantage because it is established in
one of the world acclaimed centres and source of renowned
world civilisation"
“The ancient town is one of the cities in sub-Sharan African
with largest concentration of archaeological sites where both
foreign and local archaeologists got objects like bronze,
terracotta, precious stones and beads.”
He urged the comrades to be proud of their heritage and
culture and to enlighten people about the differences between
religion and culture.
According to him, foreigners love the Yoruba culture, citing
Brazilians as speaking Yoruba language, while Cuba, among
others, claim to be originally from Ile-Ife.
He called on government and well meaning Nigerians to
collectively maintain peaceful coexistence in making Ile-Ife a
tourist zone, so as to find another means of boosting the
nation’s economy.
In his reaction, the NANC National President, Comrade Osuji
Williams who spoke on behalf of the group appreciated the
Chief priest for acknowledging their visitation.
He said that that Ile-Ife was blessed with rich culture,abundant
abundant tourism sites, solid minerals and agricultural
produce.
He commended the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan in
reawakening the Yoruba culture, art and tradition using Ile-Ife
Ife, the cradle and some of Yoruba civilisation as the spring
board. Also Comrade Ademario Emmanuel the President Nigerian Youth coalition also appreciate the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Enitan for his love to Yoruba land a in general and for his love for culture. Also the Senior special assistant to the NANS Senate President on media and publicity Comrade Ayanlakin Rasaq democrat said he is impressed by the role played by the King for his leadership role and uplifting the Yoruba culture in general

Less than 48 hours after a major fire outbreak caused by a fuel tanker explosion in the commercial city of Onitsha, killing about seven people and destroying shops. Another fire outbreak has surfaced about five minutes ago today, destroyed properties worth millions of naira. ‘Dwarf planet’ discovered in distant Solar System

A rare “dwarf planet” 18 times smaller than Earth, has been discovered in the distant Solar System on an eccentric orbit far beyond Neptune, astronomers said Tuesday. Dubbed RR245, the icy world is currently about 9.7 billion kilometres (six billion miles) from the Sun — 65 times further than Earth, said astronomer Jean- Marc Petit of France’s CNRS research institute. “But its orbit is very elliptical, and it will be 19 billion km at its furthest point” from our star,” he told AFP. At the closest approach on its 700-year orbit, the planet will pass the Sun at a distance of some five billion km. Dwarf planets fall into a six-year-old category of celestial bodies. They are smaller than ordinary planets and orbit the Sun at a much greater distance, travelling in a zone littered with other objects like asteroids.
