The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has in Tuesday suspended Maye of Ife and Founder of Oduduwa University, Chief Ramon Adedoyin over an alleged ‘Ewi’ (poetry). The poetry was allegedly composed to deride the stool of Ooni. The Council of Ife chiefs also revealed that the plan is ongoing to remove Oloyere of Oyere, Oba Adeoye Adefarakan, who they accused of conniving with Adedoyin to tarnish the image of Oba Ogunwusi. The Royal Traditional Council of the Source announced the suspension of Adedoyin at a press conference in Ile Ife on Tuesday. Adedoyin also showed interest in becoming the Ooni of Ife in the year 2015 during the selection of the late Oba Okunade Sijuade’s successor but lost to the present Monarch. The nation woke up recently to the decision by 38 public universities to jack up their tuition fees. According to the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr. Deji Omole, the hike was necessitated by poor funding from the owners, the federal and state governments. Leaders of the All Progressives Congress are concerned about the crises, which have enmeshed at least 12 state chapters of the party, SUNDAY PUNCH has learnt. It was gathered on Saturday that the fear of the party leaders increased on July 12 when the Supreme Court delivered a judgment, which resolved the factional crisis in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party. It was learnt that at a meeting of its governors and the National Working Committee on Wednesday in Abuja, the APC decided to speed up its reconciliation process. A leader of the party, who confided in our correspondent, noted that less than two years to the 2019 elections, the APC had not resolved crises in about 12 of its state chapters. He listed the states as Gombe, Borno, Bauchi, Ondo, Kogi, Kaduna, Kano, Niger, Plateau, Ogun, Lagos and Enugu.
